Moroccan giants Wydad Athletic Club have reportedly withdrawn from negotiations to sign South African international Thembinkosi Lorch permanently.
The 31-year-old winger, on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns, impressed during his short stint with Wydad – particularly at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup in the U.S., where he scored against Juventus and delivered strong performances against Manchester City and Al Ain.
Despite initial progress in talks, the deal collapsed after Wydad failed to meet Sundowns’ financial demands, according to North African outlet *Kooora*. The Moroccan club has now turned its attention to AS Maniema midfielder Joseph Bakasu instead.
Lorch, a former Orlando Pirates star, remains under contract with Sundowns, who are willing to sell but insist on their valuation being met. With Wydad focusing on other targets as they prepare for Botola Pro and CAF Champions League campaigns, Lorch’s next move remains uncertain.
