Ex-Advocate Teffo Accuses Julius Malema, Ministers of Plotting His 17-Month Imprisonment

Former advocate Malesela Teffo has made explosive claims on Podcast and Chill with MacG, alleging that EFF leader Julius Malema and several government ministers conspired to keep him jailed for 17 months.

Teffo, who was previously involved in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial, said his imprisonment was extended due to political interference. He accused high-ranking officials of pressuring prison and judicial authorities to block his release, claiming they targeted him for exposing “uncomfortable truths” in the Meyiwa case.

“Julius Malema and these ministers made sure I stayed in prison because they saw me as a threat,” Teffo stated. He offered no documented proof but insisted his arrest and disbarment were politically motivated to silence him.

No Official Response Yet
The Department of Justice and Correctional Services has not commented, and the EFF has remained silent. Political analysts question Teffo’s credibility, citing his history of legal controversies, including contempt of court charges and being struck off the roll by the Legal Practice Council.

Calls for Investigation
Despite doubts about Teffo’s past, civil rights groups urge scrutiny of his claims. Advocate Teboho Mokoena of the Rule of Law Foundation said, “Such serious allegations, regardless of the source, demand proper investigation.”

Teffo, who left the Meyiwa trial under controversy in 2022, maintains his incarceration was unjust. “They feared what I knew,” he said, promising legal action against those he blames for his ordeal.

The podcast has reignited debate over Teffo’s reliability and the unresolved questions in the Meyiwa case, drawing massive online attention.
