EFF’s Shivambu Takes Aim at Zuma and MK Party, Calling It a “Scam”

EFF Deputy President Floyd Shivambu has launched a scathing attack on former President Jacob Zuma and his newly formed uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party, dismissing it as a “scam” and vowing not to seek its approval.

During a fiery address to supporters, Shivambu made his stance clear, stating, “If standing by our principles means losing party members, so be it.” He doubled down with a direct jab at Zuma: “I won’t beg Zuma or his scam of a party to keep my membership.” The remarks come amid speculation that some EFF members might be leaning toward the MK Party, a rumor Shivambu firmly rejected.

Political observers see his comments as a reinforcement of the EFF’s hardline stance against the ANC and its splinter groups. Shivambu’s dismissal of the MK Party aligns with the EFF’s branding as a radical alternative, appealing to members who view Zuma’s new venture as a self-serving project rather than a genuine political movement.

The outburst could escalate tensions between the two factions, but Shivambu appears unfazed. With battle lines drawn, the political arena waits to see if Zuma or the MK Party will respond—or if silence will speak volumes.

FLOYD SHIVAMBU

If what we are doing means we may lose membership of the party we belong to, so be it.

I am not going to beg Zuma and his scam of a party to keep my membership in that scam.

We are going ahead with this process without any hesitation.

We commit to everyone… pic.twitter.com/2dblj750OT
