Former EFF deputy president Floyd Shivambu has unveiled his new political movement, Mayibuye iAfrika, with a striking declaration: this isn’t just another opposition party, but a movement built to take power.
At a Johannesburg media briefing on Monday, Shivambu positioned the group as a revolutionary force ready to govern, saying: “We’re not here to add noise to opposition benches. We’re building a movement that will lead government and restore dignity to our communities.”
The movement has already drawn members from across the political spectrum—including disaffected ANC and EFF supporters—with its message resonating strongly among youth and activists frustrated by what they see as South Africa’s failing political establishment.
