Percy Tau Names R450,000 Price Tag for Kaizer Chiefs Move

Bafana Bafana star Percy Tau has set the stage for a potential return to the Premier Soccer League (PSL), revealing he would accept a monthly salary of R450,000 from Kaizer Chiefs or any other Betway Premiership club.

The 31-year-old forward, now a free agent after his short-term contract with Qatar SC ended in May 2025, is considering his options for the 2025/26 season following stints with Mamelodi Sundowns, Al Ahly, and Qatar SC.

His openness to a PSL comeback has sparked excitement, particularly among Chiefs fans, as he aims to revive his career ahead of the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.

In a candid interview with Robert Marawa on Radio 94.7, Tau responded to a hypothetical offer from Chiefs chairman Kaizer Motaung: “I at Naturena offer you R450,000 a month. Do you accept?” Tau replied, “For how many years?” When Marawa proposed a two-year deal with an option for extension, Tau confirmed, “Perfect,” signaling his willingness to join Chiefs at that price. However, he emphasized he is open to offers from all PSL clubs, not just the traditional “big three”—Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns, and Orlando Pirates.

“I’ll listen if there are offers, I’m not ruling out anyone,” Tau told Marawa. “You have to consider age, how long the contract is, and family.” He highlighted his childhood support for Chiefs but expressed loyalty to Sundowns, where he won titles, adding, “If Sundowns don’t offer me a contract and Chiefs does, it won’t be my fault.” Tau also named Stellenbosch FC and SuperSport United as potential destinations, underscoring his pragmatic approach to securing a deal that supports his family.

Addressing claims of being an expensive signing, Tau dismissed the notion, stating, “I’m very reasonable. I’m not going to ask what I know you can’t offer.” As transfer talks heat up, posts on X reflect growing anticipation among fans, with Chiefs supporters urging the club to act swiftly to secure the stylish forward’s signature.
