Condolences are flooding social media following the tragic news of the assassination of Advocate Katlego Moribe. His brother, Apostle Dr. D Mekgwe, shared the heartbreaking announcement on Twitter, leaving many South Africans in shock and mourning.

In a sorrowful post, Apostle Mekgwe wrote:

“Trying to come to terms with the fact that my Brother was assassinated last night. Shot 9 Times to his head! Rest in Peace Advocate Katlego Moribe. This is a very painful loss!”

He included three photos of the late advocate, depicting a proud and accomplished man whose life was abruptly ended in a brutal manner.

The tweet quickly went viral, drawing an outpouring of sympathy and outrage from people across the nation.

This devastating incident has reignited concerns over the rising wave of violent and targeted killings in South Africa. From political assassinations to contract killings, such brutal murders are becoming an alarming trend—leaving families shattered and communities living in fear.

Many South Africans shared their grief and frustration, questioning the safety of professionals and public figures. “We are no longer safe in our own homes,” one Twitter user remarked. Another added, “South Africa is in crisis. Too many people are dying violently every day.”

Violence in the country has reached disturbing levels, with recent reports noting a surge in gun-related crimes and assassinations. Whether victims are taxi operators, public servants, business owners, or, as in this case, legal professionals—no one appears to be spared from this escalating crime wave.

The killing of Advocate Moribe is not only a profound loss for his family but also a blow to the justice system he dedicated his life to serving.

While details surrounding his death continue to emerge, one undeniable truth remains: South Africa is in dire need of urgent measures to curb the violence.

As the Moribe family grieves, many across the country are demanding justice, accountability, and lasting peace.
