Senior MK Party member Mary Phadi has repeated her call for Floyd Shivambu to resign from his leadership role within the party, citing concerns over ideological alignment and internal unity. Phadi, known for her direct approach, initially raised questions about Shivambu’s rapid rise following his departure from the EFF. Speaking on a Soweto radio station, she stressed her dedication to preserving the MKP’s identity and principles.

Phadi stated that the MKP, founded on the legacy of uMkhonto weSizwe, requires members to uphold its values of selflessness and commitment. She suggested that Shivambu, despite his skills, may not fully embody these ideals and warned against the party becoming a “political dumping ground” for those seeking to undermine its mission.

Her remarks reflect wider unease among long-standing MKP members, who worry that recent high-profile defectors are being elevated without fully embracing the party’s core values. While Shivambu has not responded, internal sources indicate growing tensions. Some accuse Phadi of fostering division, while others view her stance as a necessary safeguard against opportunism.

As the MKP prepares for its national committee meeting, Shivambu’s position remains uncertain, and the situation highlights potential ideological divisions within the party.
