The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) expressed hope that the inclusion of new members will strengthen its efforts to promote political stability for the country’s official opposition, as it prepares for next year’s local government elections.

The MK Party welcomed several new faces over the past week, including Edward Zuma.

The party announced the addition of Edward Zuma and Nhlakanipho Sibisi, the former African National Congress (ANC) treasurer of the Zululand region, during a media briefing in Eshowe, northern KZN.

MK Party’s KZN convenor, Willies Mchunu, was also present.

Edward Zuma addressed supporters at the event, dismissing claims that the party is a family affair.

“MKP is not a Zuma stokvel, I must correct this. It so happens that President Zuma is instrumental in it, but it’s not. It’s an organization, and if you understand the documents of the MK Party, then you will understand.”
