“I’ll Protect It With Everything I Have”: Dr. Khoza Finally Breaks Silence On PSL Ownership Claims

In a strong response to long-standing criticism, Premier Soccer League (PSL) Chairman Dr. Irvin Khoza has publicly addressed claims that he personally controls the organization. The statement has sparked significant reaction within the South African football community.

Khoza firmly rejected the idea that the PSL is a “one-man show.” He emphasized the collective effort behind the league’s success, stating, “We’ve worked too hard for this brand. There are 32 clubs, a board – it’s not a one-man show. But I will protect it with everything I have.”

He further stressed that the league’s focus is on the broader football community, saying, “It’s not about me. It’s about South African football. It’s about the fans, the clubs, the communities.”

The comments appear directed at persistent suggestions, particularly on social media, that Khoza has too much centralized power and treats the league as his personal property.

Khoza has been the long-serving face of the PSL, guiding it through numerous challenges, including financial difficulties and the COVID-19 pandemic. The league’s growth under his leadership is widely acknowledged.

However, his latest remarks are unlikely to fully satisfy critics and fans who continue to question the concentration of power within the PSL’s executive structure and demand greater transparency. The debate over the league’s governance is expected to continue.
