A 38-year-old foreign national was arrested in Parklands, Cape Town, in the early hours of Tuesday, 13 May 2025, after authorities found over R1 million in South African and foreign currency, along with a bag containing bank cards registered to different individuals.

The arrest followed a raid on a residence in Holly Crescent, Table View, conducted by members of the Provincial Operational Command Centre. The operation was initiated based on intelligence pointing to suspected drug-related activities.

During the search, officers uncovered the large sum of cash and multiple bank cards. Police reported that the suspect could not provide a reasonable explanation for possessing the items.

The suspect was detained and is facing charges of possession of suspected stolen property and conspiracy to commit cybercrime. Investigators from the Provincial Organised Crime Commercial Unit are continuing their probe, and additional charges may follow.

The accused is expected to appear in the Cape Town Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 15 May 2025.
