In a significant development reshaping South Africa’s political landscape, former President Jacob Zuma has firmly dismissed any possibility of partnering with the ANC under a proposed Government of National Unity (GNU).

“We cannot join hands with the ANC while they have the enemy inside. Our duty is to liberate our people,” Zuma stated during a widely circulated media briefing.

Now leading the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party, Zuma remains a polarizing figure, drawing both strong support and criticism for his unwavering stance. He described the ANC as “captured” and declared he would not compromise his principles or the people’s future by aligning with the party.

His remarks have resonated with many South Africans disillusioned by years of corruption, unemployment, and political instability. As the ANC struggles to form a GNU amid declining trust and internal divisions, Zuma’s rejection could significantly influence the country’s political trajectory.

Online reactions have been divided, with some praising Zuma as a defiant leader standing against the establishment, while others criticize his past controversies. The hashtag #ZumaSavesSA has gained traction, reflecting his enduring influence.

As negotiations for a GNU continue, Zuma’s opposition underscores deeper tensions within South African politics. His stance highlights a critical debate over the nation’s future, making it clear that his role in the ongoing political discourse remains pivotal.
