ANC Mayor Nora Mahlangu Caught in Leaked Video Scandal, Sparks Public Outcry

In a dramatic turn of events, a leaked explicit video of African National Congress (ANC) Mayor Nora Mahlangu has surfaced online, triggering widespread controversy and calls for an official investigation. The footage, which began circulating on social media on February 17, 2025, allegedly features Mayor Mahlangu in a compromising situation, reportedly intended for a younger romantic partner, often referred to as a “Ben 10.”

Reports indicate that the video was initially shared within an ANC WhatsApp group before spreading publicly. The footage allegedly shows the mayor in revealing attire, engaging in intimate behavior. Sources claim she recorded the video for her younger companion, who later attempted to extort money from her. When she refused to comply, he allegedly released the video in retaliation.

The leak has sparked concerns over privacy violations and the misuse of personal content for blackmail. Legal experts stress that distributing explicit material without consent is a criminal offense, and those responsible could face serious legal consequences.

Amid the fallout, Mayor Mahlangu has reportedly taken a one-month leave of absence, citing emotional distress and depression following the incident. While the ANC has not issued an official statement, internal discussions are said to be underway regarding potential actions.

The controversy has ignited broader debates on privacy, consent, and the ethical expectations of public officials. While many express disappointment over the scandal, others argue that victim-blaming is harmful and emphasize the need to focus on those responsible for the malicious leak.

Authorities have urged the public to refrain from sharing the explicit content, reminding citizens that its distribution is both unethical and illegal. The handling of this case could set a precedent for addressing similar incidents in the future, underscoring the need for stronger protections against digital privacy violations.

As the investigation unfolds, the ANC is expected to provide further updates, while uncertainty looms over Mayor Mahlangu’s political future amid the ongoing controversy.
