Tragedy struck KwaZulu-Natal overnight and this morning, as multiple road accidents claimed several lives in separate incidents.

On the R34 Vryheid-Mondlo Road, a police constable and four others lost their lives in a head-on collision that occurred overnight. The constable, who was on duty and driving a State vehicle towards Vryheid, was among the fatalities. The collision caused both vehicles to roll multiple times, leaving two other occupants from the second vehicle injured. Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.

This morning, three more lives were lost in a taxi crash on the N2 near Spaghetti Junction. Details surrounding the incident remain unclear, but the accident has added to the grim tally of road fatalities in the province.

Shortly afterward, another taxi accident was reported in the Nkandla area, with multiple deaths confirmed. Emergency services are on-site, responding to the tragic incident.

These accidents highlight the ongoing concerns about road safety in the region. Authorities have urged motorists to exercise caution and adhere to traffic regulations as investigations into the causes of these crashes continue.
