Floyd Shivambu: Pan-Africanism Does Not Mean Lawlessness, MKP Opposes Undocumented Immigration

In a firm statement set to ignite national debate, Floyd Shivambu, Secretary General of the Umkhonto WeSizwe Political Party (MKP), declared the party’s stance against undocumented and unlawful immigration. Speaking at a press briefing, Shivambu emphasized that Pan-Africanism, a cornerstone of the MKP’s philosophy, should not be conflated with an endorsement of uncontrolled immigration or lawlessness.

“Pan-Africanism is about unity, prosperity, and mutual respect among African nations. It is not a call for lawlessness,” Shivambu stated. “UMkhonto WeSizwe fought for the liberation of South Africa, not for it to become a free-for-all zone for criminal elements. We will not allow our country to be undermined by an influx of undocumented immigrants.”

His remarks come amidst heightened concerns over illegal immigration, with reports of increased criminal activity tied to undocumented individuals. Shivambu specifically pointed to challenges posed by Nigerian drug syndicates, violent crimes involving spaza shops, and illegal settlements in the Western Cape.

The MKP has called for stricter immigration controls and is urging citizens to support the party in the upcoming elections. “We must safeguard our sovereignty and ensure that South Africa remains a haven for its own people, not a target for exploitation by criminal networks,” Shivambu added.

He reiterated the MKP’s commitment to protecting South Africa’s borders while fostering lawful and sustainable Pan-African unity. The party envisions a future where African nations collaborate within a framework of legality and mutual respect.

Shivambu’s strong stance highlights the delicate balance between promoting African solidarity and addressing the socio-economic challenges posed by undocumented immigration, setting the stage for significant political and public discourse.
