Ukhozi FM presenter Nondumiso Shazi has passed away, leaving listeners and colleagues in mourning. Shazi, who appeared on the Sunday morning segment Vumelani Abantwana Beze Kimi, died on Thursday at Addington Hospital in Durban. Reports indicate that she had been battling persistent headaches and tremors for the past month.

News of her death spread rapidly on social media on Friday, with many users expressing shock and grief. Shazi joined Ukhozi FM in June 2023 and quickly became a beloved figure on the station.

The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) confirmed the news in a statement shared by spokesperson Mmoni Seapolelo:
“Ukhozi FM management and staff are saddened by the passing of Nondumiso Shazi who was a contributor (Sunday school teacher) on the Sunday morning segment Vumelani Abantwana Beze Kimi.

“Shazi started working at the SABC in June 2023. She has played a role in fulfilling the SABC’s public service mandate from a programming perspective. She will be deeply missed by her colleagues, friends and listeners of the station.”

Shazi’s untimely death comes as Ukhozi FM continues to grapple with recent losses, including producer Bonga Ndaba and presenters Zanele Mbokazi-Nkambule, Bheka “Beekay” Mchunu, and Irvin Sihlophe.

Efforts to contact Shazi’s family for comment were unsuccessful. Her passing marks a significant loss for Ukhozi FM and its audience, who remember her for her dedication and contribution to the station’s programming.

Listeners and fans have flooded social media with tributes, highlighting Shazi’s impact and extending condolences to her family and colleagues. Details about her memorial service and funeral arrangements have not yet been released.
