  • Former EFF chairperson Dali Mpofu leaves the party to join Jacob Zuma’s MK Party.
  • Mpofu cited disappointment with the GNU, calling it a “betrayal” of liberation ideals.
  • He believes the MKP best represents his dedication to national unity.

Former Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) chairperson, advocate Dali Mpofu, has officially announced his departure from the EFF, revealing his decision to join former President Jacob Zuma’s uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MKP).

In an interview on *SABC Morning Live*, Mpofu expressed disappointment with the Government of National Unity (GNU), describing it as a betrayal of South Africa’s liberation goals. He explained that his values aligned more closely with the MK Party, which he believes genuinely reflects his passion for national unity.

Mpofu’s move comes as the MKP gains momentum ahead of the 2024 elections, appealing to South Africans seeking an alternative to mainstream political parties. The former EFF chairperson’s decision signals a shift in his political allegiance and highlights the MKP’s growing influence within South Africa’s complex political landscape.
