“I Feel Like A Bloody Fool, Used And Betrayed” EFF MP On Mkhwebane Joining MK Party

EFF Member of Parliament has publicly condemned former Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane following her recent announcement of joining the MK Party, just a week after resigning from the Economic Freedom Fighters. Mkhwebane, who initially joined the EFF a year ago amid her tumultuous tenure as Public Protector, now finds herself in the crossfire of her former comrades as she aligns with the MK Party, led by former president Jacob Zuma.

The MP expressed frustration and a sense of betrayal over Mkhwebane’s swift allegiance shift. “You used and abused the goodwill and support of the EFF, and our Commander in Chief, President Julius Malema,” the MP stated, recalling the support the party extended to her during her time in office. Mkhwebane faced significant challenges during her term, including impeachment proceedings, where the EFF had stood firmly by her side, defending her against political adversaries.

@AdvBMkhwebane I am deeply disappointed in you. When that other betrayer, @FloydShivambu, left the @EFFSouthAfrica you posted on X that, “I will never betray the fighters my political home”, and then barely a month later when you resigned, you denied that you are joining… https://t.co/SF5wFrjVL7

The MP further noted his personal support for the impeached public protector recounting how he had publicly defended her against what he described as political persecution. “It is also a matter of public record how I supported you when you were persecuted and impeached. Now I feel like a bloody fool, and it is not a good feeling to feel used, lied to, and betrayed,” he lamented.

Her move to the MK Party has raised questions about her political loyalty and motivations. The MK Party, has recently garnered support from those aligned with Zuma. Her new political affiliation marks a significant shift and has reignited debate about her intentions and political direction.

This development adds to ongoing tensions within South Africa’s political landscape, especially among opposition parties. Mkhwebane’s departure and subsequent move to the MK Party appear to have left the EFF leadership questioning her commitment to their cause, stirring further uncertainty and rifts among opposition ranks.
