Advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane’s swift return to politics as the provincial convener for the MK Party in Mpumalanga has surprised many, especially after her recent exit from the EFF, where she had announced her intent to step back from the political arena. The timing of her new political role has led some to question whether her departure from the EFF was ever truly about taking a break.

Mkhwebane’s original statement suggested she was leaving to focus on her family and take a much-needed rest. “I’m saying goodbye to you, Fighters. After careful consideration and discussions with my family, they felt I needed to take a break, rest, and continue to support the vulnerable where possible,” she stated. Yet, her sudden reappearance in politics has raised eyebrows, with some interpreting her exit from the EFF as a strategic maneuver rather than a sincere decision for respite.

Critics on social media have not held back, casting doubt on her intentions. Many speculate that her “break” was a calculated pause before switching political affiliations, with one Twitter user labeling her “the biggest liar of all time.” This sentiment reflects disappointment among those who felt blindsided by her quick political comeback.

Whether Mkhwebane’s decision to join the MK Party represents a renewed commitment to public service or a strategic shift in allegiance, it has undeniably sparked debate. As public opinion continues to simmer, questions remain about the authenticity of her stated intentions and whether her latest political move signals a genuine return or a carefully planned recalibration.
