Legendary kwaito star Arthur Mafokate has publicly called on Sports Minister Gayton McKenzie for clarity regarding an upcoming industry meeting scheduled for the 28th of October.

Using X (formerly Twitter), Mafokate praised the minister’s work in the sports sector but raised concerns over the lack of transparency about the event. He requested details on the selection process for attendees, the organizations they represent, and their membership status.

Dear Minister @GaytonMcK, well done on your work in the Sports sector, may you humbly please furnish us with names of people that you have invited to our industry meeting on the 28th October, criteria used for selection, organisations they represent, sectors they belong to, as…

“Dear Minister @GaytonMcK, well done on your work in the Sports sector. May you humbly please furnish us with the names of people you have invited to our industry meeting on the 28th of October, the criteria used for selection, the organizations they represent, sectors they belong to, and their membership status. Sorry for using X as a platform, we have tried other avenues,” Mafokate wrote.

As of now, Minister McKenzie has yet to respond to Mafokate’s request. However, instead of rallying behind the musician, many users on social media pointed out his involvement in the South African Lottery corruption scandal, drawing attention away from his call for transparency.

One user fired back, asking:

What criteria was used in selecting you as one of the SA Lottery beneficiaries?

Others echoed similar sentiments, referencing the ongoing investigation into his alleged looting of the National Lotteries Commission (NLC). Another user wrote:

You are still under investigation regarding looting NLC yet you want to shift our attention. The nerve 😤
