The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has expressed deep sorrow at the passing of Membathisi Mdladlana, the former Minister of Labour, who died today at the age of 72. Mdladlana, who held this pivotal position from July 1998 to 2009, was a steadfast advocate for workers’ rights and a prominent figure in South Africa’s struggle for social justice.

Throughout his tenure, Mdladlana was known for his unwavering commitment to the working class. His efforts to secure fair wages and improve working conditions across various sectors led to significant reforms aimed at protecting workers’ rights in a rapidly evolving economic landscape.

EFF leaders have underscored Mdladlana’s legacy as one of courage and dedication. In a statement, they remarked, “He was not just a minister; he was a champion for the voiceless. His fight for equality and dignity for all workers remains an inspiration for us all.”

Born in the Eastern Cape, Mdladlana’s political journey was deeply connected to the liberation movement, contributing significantly to the broader struggle against apartheid. His work within the government reflected a lifelong commitment to fostering a more equitable society.

As South Africa reflects on Mdladlana’s contributions, the EFF calls on all citizens to honor his legacy by continuing the fight for workers’ rights and social justice. The party encourages ongoing dialogue about the importance of safeguarding the rights of all workers in a country still grappling with economic disparities.

Membathisi Mdladlana will be remembered not only for his political achievements but also for his unwavering spirit and dedication to empowering the working class.
