In Gauteng Province, Floyd Shivambu, National Organizer of uMkhonto weSizwe (MK), and MK Party Deputy President Dr. John Hlophe recently convened a pivotal meeting with MK leadership structures under the banner of “Buyela Ebantwini” (Return to the People). This initiative aims to reconnect MK with grassroots members and strengthen the party’s influence within local communities.

The “Buyela Ebantwini” initiative is designed to enhance engagement between MK members and the public, reaffirming their commitment to freedom and justice. Speaking at the meeting, Shivambu emphasized the importance of maintaining strong ties with the people. “Our origins are rooted in the community,” he said. “Our struggles were for them, and they must continue to be our focus.”

Dr. John Hlophe echoed Shivambu’s message, urging MK members to stay united and adhere to the principles of the liberation movement. He stressed the need for active community involvement to address the pressing challenges faced by South Africans today. “We, as the MK Party, have an obligation to address the challenges faced by our constituents,” Hlophe said, noting that the party cannot afford to be disconnected from the daily realities of the people.

The meeting also provided a platform for discussing Gauteng’s current political landscape and the MK Party’s role in shaping its future. Through the “Buyela Ebantwini” campaign, the MK Party seeks to revitalize the spirit of activism and ensure that their liberation legacy continues to influence South African politics.

The MK leadership in Gauteng expressed strong support for the initiative and vowed to spread its message. “Buyela Ebantwini” marks a renewed focus on grassroots engagement as the MK Party strives to reestablish itself as a significant political force.

Shivambu and Hlophe are reaffirming the MK Party’s commitment to its liberation roots, while also addressing contemporary challenges facing South African society through this grassroots-driven initiative.
