A petition calling on South African Minister of Home Affairs, Leon Schreiber, to cancel Chris Brown’s upcoming concerts in Johannesburg has been initiated by the gender-based violence organization Women For Change. The US singer, notorious for his criminal history involving domestic abuse, is set to perform in Johannesburg on December 14th and 15th.

The timing of these concerts, which coincide closely with the 16 Days of Activism campaign against gender-based violence, has raised concerns among activists. Despite ongoing criticism over his past, Brown continues to draw backlash, especially from those advocating against gender-based violence (GBV).

Despite his past, Chris Brown continues to face criticism, and his upcoming concerts have drawn backlash from those advocating against GBV.
Chris Brown has been banned from entering several other countries, such as Canada, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand, due to his criminal record.
The petition has garnered almost 9 000 signatures
