According to ZiMoja, actor Sipho Ndlovu was arrested on assault charges shortly after his girlfriend was granted bail yesterday. The couple, Sipho and Thandeka Mhlanga, had both filed criminal cases against each other following a weekend scuffle.

Thandeka accused Sipho of assaulting her after she caught him with another woman, while Sipho also alleged assault, crimen injuria, and defamation of character.

Thandeka was arrested on Thursday at her workplace in Fourways, Johannesburg by Douglasdale police, and appeared in court today where she was granted R1,000 bail.

Shortly after her release, Thandeka lodged a countercharge against Sipho. Sipho’s manager, Alexis Tshangana, confirmed the actor’s arrest to ZiMoja, in the midst of this ongoing dispute.

Thandeka’s sister, Nonkululeko Mhlanga, has criticized the South African justice system, accusing it of favoring the wealthy, ZiMoja report. She claimed that authorities in Cosmo City were slow to act when Thandeka reported the assault, only apologizing later on. Thandeka was then directed to Douglasdale Police Station where a countercharge was filed against Sipho.

Nonkululeko expressed a desire for Sipho to remain in custody over the weekend, emphasizing the need for fairness in the legal process. Thandeka’s court case has been adjourned to 21 August for further investigation, with Sipho’s presence in court duly noted.
