The shocking news of Sergeant Juliet Motshwene’s premature death has left the South African Police Service (SAPS) in Limpopo reeling. Major General Jan Scheepers, the Acting Provincial Commissioner, expressed profound sorrow over this regrettable incident.

It was earlier this week that Sergeant Motshwene, a dedicated member of the SAPS stationed at the Rakgwadi police station in the Sekhukhune District, was reported missing. On Tuesday, January 30, 2024, she was last seen leaving her home in the Kgapamadi, Hlogotlou Policing region. She was wearing pink sneakers, a green top, and blue trousers, which immediately raised concerns.

General Scheepers acted quickly and gathered all the resources required for the search. But hopes were dashed when Sergeant Motshwene’s lifeless body was found outside her home village on Sunday afternoon, February 4, 2024, in a very decomposed form.

The SAPS community in Limpopo has been rocked by the news, and Sergeant Motshwene’s family, coworkers, and the public are all in sorrow. General Scheepers offered the family support at this extremely trying time and expressed SAPS’s sincere condolences in a statement.

General Scheepers underlined, “We ask that the family be given the space and time needed to mourn their loss.”

Officials are pleading with anyone with information on the incident to come forward and help with the ongoing investigations as they look into the circumstances surrounding Sergeant Motshwene’s unfortunate death. As more information becomes available, SAPS is committed to delivering updates.

In addition to being a tragedy for the SAPS, Sergeant Juliet Motshwene’s passing is also tragic for the community she served. As her loved ones and coworkers process this significant loss, her devotion to duty and dedication to dedication will be remembered and appreciated.
