A family of a male nurse who was found hanging by an electrical cord in the nurses stuff room at KwaMaqumbi clinic, KwaMaphumulo on Monday is still in disbelief.

Mr Talent Ngema (26) from KwaNdaba, KwaMaphumulo is said to have been found by one of his colleagues who went to see what happened to him.

At the scene of the incident, it is said that there is not much found that explains why he killed himself.

It turns out that a piece of paper was found where he wrote “I love you my friend” and then wrote his bank card pin on it. It is said that the person who was called his friend by him in a note was his grandmother who brought him up, The source found out that he is 86 years old.

His uncle, Mr Sizwe Ngema, said that the incident happened while the deceased was with them at home at the weekend.

“He arrived at the beginning of the weekend, he looked like he had no problem. We were just chatting good as always. On Sunday, we said goodbye, and he went back to work. We were shocked when we received the call that he had done so much damage to us,” said Ngema.

A source who asked not to be identified told Isolezwe that the deceased was supposed to go to work on Monday morning but it happened.

“He sent a message to the manager to report that something is wrong, so he is asking not to come to work. The manager didn’t pay attention to the fact that it had gone bad like that, he told himself that maybe he is not well,” said the source.

He says it was around noon when one of the deceased’s colleagues chose to go to his house that is inside the clinic to see what happened to him as he failed to come to work.

“He came and got a surprise, finding him hanging from an electric cord in his room. Then it goes wrong. The house was not locked because his colleague went to check on him, he just opened the door and it opened after knocking and no one answered,” said the source.

He continues and said that he heard that even among his colleagues, no one noticed that maybe it was bothering him, as he has been showing that everything is going well.

The chief of Kwandaba, Mr Zazi Mthembu said they were also shocked because the deceased was a respectful child who didn’t think anything was wrong.

KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson, Colonel Robert Netshiunda said KwaMaphumulo police are investigating the case of a man’s death following an incident where a man is suspected to have hanged himself at work.
