The Gcaba family who are popular in the KwaZulu Natal taxi industry is saddened and shocked after criminals shot and killed their member, Mr Langa “Mantunta” Gcaba (43), who was shot dead on Monday, in Quarry Heights, Durban.

It is said that he met unknown people who shot him dead. It is not known what his killing is related to because it is said that he was attacked unexpectedly.

A family member who spoke to the source Mr Sthe Gcaba, said that his brother was not a taxi owner but was a famous driver. He said he had been driving for almost 25 years and he was doing his job with great determination and reliability. He said they will miss him a lot for his role and as a member of the family.

He said his brother drove a lot of long distances working for the rank of Durban Station for a long time. He said they don’t know exactly about his murder but they hope the police will help them.

“No, we don’t know for sure but we have left everything in the hands of the police to help us do justice. We lost a lot because he was a very humble person and he was not a bully, we just wonder why he was killed,” said Gcaba.

KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson, Constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo, said the Greenwood Park police are investigating a case of murder.

“The police are working on a murder case after a 43-year-old man was shot by unknown people in Quarry Heights. He was rushed to the clinic but it was found that he is already dead,” said Const Ngcobo.
