FICKSBURG, South Africa – A 30-year-old man from Haseboche in Lesotho, residing in Meqheleng Zone 8, has handed himself over to the police for the murder of his wife. The man, whose name has not been released, drove to the Ficksburg police station with his dead wife seated in the passenger seat of their car.

According to police reports, the man arrived at the station at approximately 15:30 on 1 December 2023. He was visibly distraught and told the police that he had come to report the murder of his wife.

Officers immediately apprehended the man and secured the scene. Emergency medical services were summoned to the station, but the woman was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police say that the couple had been arguing earlier in the day at Meulspruit Dam, a few kilometers outside of Ficksburg. It is alleged that the woman told her husband that she was sick and tired, and he became angry and assaulted her.

The man is currently in custody and is expected to appear in court soon. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
