EFF President Julius Malema and the party’s Johannesburg Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Public Safety, along with a delegation, visited the bereaved families in Soweto today. This visit came in the wake of the tragic deaths of children who had consumed biscuits from a local spaza shop.

The MMC expressed deep condolences to the affected families and pledged the EFF’s commitment to ensuring the safety of community members. He announced a significant initiative to conduct regular bylaw inspections on all tuck shops and similar establishments, with a particular focus on the quality and expiration of goods being sold.

Julius Malema, known for his activism and advocacy on various social issues, stood in solidarity with the grieving families and expressed his determination to see this initiative through. The EFF’s visit not only provides support to the affected families but also underscores the importance of holding local businesses accountable for the quality and safety of the products they sell. This proactive approach by the EFF and their commitment to community safety reflects their ongoing efforts to address concerns and challenges faced by ordinary citizens in South Africa.
