Kaizer Chiefs central midfielder Edson Castillo who joined the club in July 2023 on a renewable 2 year deal from Venezuelan side Monagas SC has taken the PSL by a storm ever since he made his debut.

“Stillo Magolide” as he is affectionately known as gave another masterclass performance on Saturday afternoon at the FNB Stadium when Kaizer Chiefs played to a 1-draw against Mamelodi Sundowns in the 1st leg of the MTN 8 semi-final encounter.

The 29 year old Puerto Ordaz born footballer who was named as the Man-Of-The-Match award winner gave Kaizer Chiefs the led in the 61st minute before Khuliso Mudau’s equaliser in the dying stages of the match snatched joy away from the home side.

What’s the story?

On Saturday evening, a now viral photo of Mamelodi Sundowns number one goalkeeper Ronwen Williams was widely circulated on Facebook after Kaizer Chiefs central midfielder Edson Castillo netted an outrageous header against him during their clubs’ recent encounter at the FNB Stadium.

From the shared photo on the popular platform, it appeared as if the Mamelodi Sundowns jersey number 32 was left star struck after Edson Castillo scored his third goal in the colours of Kaizer Chiefs.

Did you know?

Mamelodi Sundowns number one goalkeeper Ronwen Williams who is currently the most used player at the club in the 2023/24 DStv Premiership season has kept more clean sheets than the amount of goals he has conceded in all competitions.

According to his player profile on German website 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘬𝘵, the 31 year old Port Elizabeth born footballer who has made 8 appearances in all competitions in the colours of his club in the current ongoing season has kept 5 clean sheets and has conceded 3 goals.

Your thoughts, please?

Do you think that Kaizer Chiefs central midfielder Edson Castillo who is proving to be worth the investment is the biggest signing at the Naturena based outfit in the 2023/24 DStv Premiership season given his recent performances?
