In Johannesburg, there was a scuffle between members of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and a group of white men outside the party’s headquarters. The incident occurred while the EFF was holding a media briefing, and the white men apparently wanted to be part of it.

In a video shared by The Citizen’s journalist Lunga Mzangwe, EFF members can be seen pushing and tussling with the group to keep them away from the building. During the briefing, EFF leader Julius Malema addressed the altercation, justifying their actions by saying that racists were trying to enter their offices, which he referred to as a “revolutionary house” and a “liberated zone.”

This incident took place on the same day Malema concluded the party’s 10th-anniversary celebrations. During the festivities, Malema sparked controversy by chanting “kill the boer, kill the farmer.” He defended this chant during the media briefing, stating that it was not a song but a chant, and it had been overexplained in court. He told those with a problem to check the court records.

The 10th anniversary of the EFF was themed as “10 Years Of Unbroken Struggle,” signifying the organization’s commitment to being a shield for the people and a weapon for the poor and marginalized. Malema called on the party’s structures to maintain the momentum gained from the celebrations and use it to help their communities and work towards victory in the 2024 elections. He urged them to continue their responsibilities in fighting against poverty, lack of service delivery, and racial discrimination.
