Moroka Swallows’ new coach, Steve Komphela, has expressed his admiration for midfielder Andile Jali’s dedication and work ethic on the training ground. Jali, a former Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates player, has reunited with Komphela at Moroka Swallows after previously working together at Mamelodi Sundowns for three seasons.

Their special relationship off the field is believed to have played a role in Jali’s return to the Dube Birds after being released by Mamelodi Sundowns during the off-season. As the DStv Premiership campaign begins, Komphela is excited about the upcoming clash against Golden Arrows at Mpumalanga Stadium in Hammarsdale on August 5.

Regarding Jali’s qualities, Komphela stated, “You cannot question the quality Andile has. He always finds a way to influence people, he is always involved and he impacts others. What else do you want from him, he is a top player and top players lift everyone when they enter a room.”

Despite being impressed by Jali’s attitude, Komphela emphasized the need for the midfielder to reach his full fitness potential to contribute effectively on the pitch. He acknowledged the challenges of fitness during the preseason and hopes that Jali remains injury-free.

When describing Jali’s playing style, Komphela mentioned his enjoyable partnership with Lantshene Phalane, as both players exhibit fluid, eye-catching football that can be extremely dangerous for opponents.

Reflecting on the team’s progress during the preseason, Komphela expressed his satisfaction with the performance but also acknowledged areas that can be improved. The fact that Moroka Swallows finished in the top eight last season provides a boost to the team, allowing them to start competing in the MTN8 cup competition.

Komphela is excited about the revival of the Moroka Swallows name and the positive energy surrounding the team’s preparations. He praised the commitment shown by the players during training and highlighted the eagerness to impress the new coaching staff.

As the DStv Premiership campaign kicks off, Komphela looks forward to guiding the team with a focus on building on the positives and making improvements where necessary. With Jali’s talents and the team’s collective effort, Moroka Swallows aims to make a strong impact in the upcoming season.
