Emergency services personnel were called to an accident scene near Moeketsi and when they arrived at the scene, a driver of a bakkie (pictured above) was transported to the nearest hospital to receive medical treatment.
According to the Perfect Radio FM news report, yesterday, Sunday, 11 June 2023 in the afternoon a driver of a white bakkie was travelling along the R81 road near Mooketsi when suddenly struck a hippopotamus, the vehicle lost control and veered off the road.
The Limpopo traffic officials and emergency services personnel were called to the scene, upon their arrival the driver was transported to the nearest hospital to receive medical treatment, the hippopotamus survived with critical injuries.
Motorists are urged to be aware of animals that are crossing the road when traveling at night, community members are also urged to look after their livestock.
