“Fire him” Benni McCarty stirs up trouble in England

Benni McCarty’s move to England as part of Manchester United’s technical team, took a lot of South Africans by a surprise. Particularly looking back at how he left the coaching scene.

Ever since then, the coach has done well to settle in; and big players such as Marcus Rashford, have been singing his praises non-stop. During the beginning of the season, Man Utd’s supporters were fully behind Benni as he had transformed Marcus Rashford into a goalscoring machine, and was seen even pocketing some of his goals from headers [ a feat he found very difficult to achieve under passed managers ]; but Benni McCarty has since angered Manchester United fans after his views in a recent interview:

“I spend every day with him and he’s an incredible guy, a great guy, very smart and one of the best goalkeepers I’ve seen. It would be a crime if Manchester United lost a goalkeeper like David de Gea.” Said Benni reflecting on his relationship with the 2023 golden gloves winner.

Benni’s words did not wash down well with many supporters, as David De Gea is believed to be one of the main problems which is holding Manchester United back.

“Sack benni. People with such a stupid understanding of football have no business being in the coaching setup of a club the size of Manchester United” said one angry fan.

David has endured a lot of critism this season. His inability to play from the back has not only cost Manchester United, but it has made it extremely hard for the manager to implement his footballing philosophy and tactics. As a result a lot of fans have been calling for his axing and a recruitment of a better goalkeeper; hence Benni’s words are considered some form of betrayal and an enemy of progress.
