Former cabinet minister Nathi Mthethwa has been sworn in as a Member of the Provincial Legislature for the uMkhonto weSizwe Party in KwaZulu-Natal.
The ceremony took place at the KwaZulu-Natal legislature, where Mthethwa took the official oath and joined the ranks of MK Party representatives. Pictures from the event show him formally accepting the position in front of legislative officials.
This marks a new chapter for the experienced politician. Mthethwa previously served in national government positions before aligning with the MK Party. His arrival adds another well-known face to the party’s team in the provincial house.
The MK Party continues to strengthen its presence in KwaZulu-Natal politics. By bringing in figures with long public service records, the party aims to boost its voice in debates and decision-making at the provincial level.
Legislative colleagues and party supporters were present for the swearing-in. The moment was captured in several photographs shared widely online, showing Mthethwa completing the formal process.
No further details have been released about the exact portfolio or committee work he may take on. For now, the focus remains on his official entry into the KwaZulu-Natal legislature as a full MPL under the MK Party banner.
The development comes as provincial politics in KwaZulu-Natal remains lively, with several parties competing for influence. Mthethwa’s swearing-in is expected to draw continued public attention in the coming days.
