Following the announcement by the Presidency that President Cyril Ramaphosa had been advised by his medical team to refrain from public engagements, enquiries regarding his health have arisen on social media.

Following his return from the BRICS Summit in India, Ramaphosa made the announcement. The Presidency stated that the president required time to recuperate and rest, but it did not provide information regarding the nature of his ailment or the duration of his absence from his official responsibilities.

A statement was also released by the ANC, which expressed its hope for the speedy recovery of its president. It was reported that his campaign program in eThekwini has been suspended until he is fit to resume public engagements.

Ramaphosa’s lack of additional information has prompted speculation among certain social media users, who are enquiring about the severity of his condition and the potential timeline for his return to public life.

Nevertheless, some have advised caution, pointing out that there has been no official indication that the president’s illness is more severe than previously reported. Additionally, certain users contended that his medical information is confidential and should not be the subject of unsubstantiated speculation.

At this time, the available information does not provide any indication of the specific illness that Ramaphosa is currently battling, whether he is receiving specific treatment, or when he will be able to resume his public responsibilities.

The public is currently anticipating additional medical information regarding his recovery and return to his official program, as the Presidency has not disclosed any additional information.
