On September 19, the EFF held its KwaZulu-Natal manifesto launch at JL Dube Stadium in Inanda, with Julius Malema speaking, while media personality Ngizwe Mchunu hosted a nearby Bhinca Heritage and Maskandi Festival at Dube Village Sports Field.
Clashes erupted the day before when groups confronted each other during preparations, leading to reports of shots fired, arrests, and police cases opened by both sides—EFF accusing Mchunu’s security of shooting at them, and Mchunu claiming he fired an AK-47 into the air after spotting guns among EFF supporters.
Police deployed heavily to separate the venues amid the long-running feud between Mchunu and Malema, with both events proceeding despite the tensions.
