Community activist Nkosikhona Ndabandaba has alleged that his outspoken campaign against illegal immigration has resulted in repeated death threats, raising concerns about the safety of activists involved in one of South Africa’s most debated public issues.

Ndabandaba claims the threats intensified after he publicly urged the government to tighten border security and enforce the country’s immigration laws more effectively. According to the activist, his calls for stronger action against undocumented migration have made him a target of individuals who disagree with his views. He said the situation has not only affected him personally but has also left his family living in fear.

Speaking about the matter, Ndabandaba said no one should face intimidation or threats for expressing their views on issues of public interest. While acknowledging that immigration remains a sensitive and divisive topic, he stressed that differences of opinion should be resolved through dialogue and lawful processes rather than violence or intimidation.

The activist has appealed to law enforcement authorities to investigate the alleged threats and identify those responsible. He believes that anyone found to have issued threats should be held accountable in accordance with the law. Ndabandaba also encouraged other people who experience similar incidents to report them to the police instead of remaining silent.

His allegations have sparked fresh debate over South Africa’s immigration policies. Some community organisations have backed his calls for stricter enforcement of immigration laws, arguing that undocumented migration places pressure on public services, employment opportunities and law enforcement resources. Others, however, have cautioned that discussions about immigration should be conducted responsibly to avoid increasing hostility or discrimination against foreign nationals who are living legally in the country.

Political analysts say the incident demonstrates the challenges faced by activists who take strong public positions on controversial issues. They argue that credible threats against any individual, regardless of their political views or public profile, should be investigated thoroughly to ensure that freedom of expression is protected and that public debate remains peaceful.

At the time of publication, the South African Police Service had not confirmed whether a formal criminal investigation had been launched into Ndabandaba’s allegations. Authorities have nevertheless repeatedly urged members of the public who receive threats or intimidation to report such incidents so that they can be properly investigated.

The matter has generated widespread discussion on social media, with South Africans expressing differing opinions on immigration, border security and public safety. While many people continue to disagree on how the country should address illegal immigration, observers have emphasized that disagreements should never lead to threats or violence. Instead, they have called for respectful engagement, adherence to the rule of law and constructive dialogue that protects the rights, safety and dignity of everyone involved.
