South African President and African National Congress (ANC) leader Cyril Ramaphosa has reaffirmed his government’s stance on immigration, emphasizing that foreign nationals who do not possess valid legal documentation should not remain in the country.

Addressing issues related to border management and immigration control, Ramaphosa stated that individuals residing in South Africa must comply with the country’s immigration laws. According to the president, foreign nationals are expected to have the appropriate permits and official documentation that authorize their stay, employment, or business activities within the country.

His remarks come amid ongoing public debate over illegal immigration, a topic that continues to generate strong opinions across South Africa. Concerns surrounding border security, unemployment, public services, and economic opportunities have fueled calls from various sectors of society for stricter enforcement of immigration regulations.

Supporters of tougher immigration measures argue that undocumented migration places additional strain on government resources, including healthcare, housing, education, and social services. Many have called on authorities to strengthen border controls and ensure that immigration laws are consistently applied.

Ramaphosa’s comments reinforce the government’s position that compliance with legal immigration procedures remains essential for all foreign nationals residing in South Africa. Officials have repeatedly stressed that those wishing to live and work in the country should follow established legal channels and maintain valid documentation.

The issue has become increasingly prominent in political discussions, with several organizations and community groups advocating for stronger action against illegal immigration.
