South Africa’s IDAC denied summoning or planning to arrest Lieutenant-General Dumisani Khumalo, head of SAPS Crime Intelligence, despite his lawyer confirming instructions to report and media reports from Brooklyn police station. KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi arrived uninvited, calling it a targeted attack and declaring ‘We’re at war,’ while pointing to documented communications.
The incident underscores ongoing feuds, including Khumalo’s prior 2025 fraud charges and mutual accusations of interference in anti-corruption probes, as both officers position themselves as key crime-fighters amid public support.
KZN Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi dismisses speculation surrounding Dumisani Khumalo’s alleged arrest. “There is no warrant of arrest applied for at IDAC,” Mkhwanazi says, seeking to clear up
