Kaizer Chiefs are set for further changes to their squad ahead of the 2026/27 season, with defender Aden McCarthy reportedly on the verge of completing a move to Azerbaijani champions Sabah FK. The 22-year-old centre-back is expected to sign a three-year contract, becoming the latest Amakhosi player to secure an overseas transfer as the club continues its rebuilding project.

McCarthy’s anticipated departure is seen as a positive reflection of the club’s ability to develop young talent capable of attracting international interest. However, his exit could be just one of several changes expected at Naturena in the coming weeks.

Rwandan goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari is among the players whose future remains uncertain. Since joining Chiefs, Ntwari has struggled to establish himself as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper and has found game time difficult to come by. Reports suggest that a loan move or permanent transfer could be considered as both the player and the club seek a solution that would allow him to play more regularly.

Experienced Uruguayan attacker Gaston Sirino is also believed to be nearing the end of his stay with the Soweto giants. Despite arriving with considerable expectations, recent reports indicate that Chiefs are unlikely to extend his contract. His departure would not only reduce the average age of the squad but also free up a valuable foreign-player slot for potential new arrivals.

Midfielder George Matlou has likewise been linked with an exit. Injuries and inconsistent opportunities have hampered his progress over the past few seasons, leaving his future at the club in doubt. A move away could provide the midfielder with a fresh opportunity to revive his career.

Should all four players depart, it would mark another significant phase in Chiefs’ squad overhaul. With transfer activity expected to continue and plans for the new season still taking shape, supporters will be closely monitoring developments as the club looks to build a stronger and more competitive squad.
