The attack happened in Lomanyaneng village near Mahikeng, South Africa’s North West province, on May 20, 2026, where Molosankwe suffered five gunshot wounds. Known for bridging residents and police against crime, leading anti-gender-based violence walks from Cape Town to Mahikeng, and pushing for local economic control, he was a vocal activist.
Acting National Commissioner Lieutenant General Puleng Dimpane condemned the brutal murder and ordered a full-scale manhunt led by the Provincial Murder and Robbery Unit, with no arrests or motive yet announced. Police are urging tips via the Crime Stop line at 08600 10111 or the MySAPS app amid unverified online speculation about his activism.
