Kaizer Chiefs are gearing up for a significant overhaul ahead of the upcoming season, despite finishing the last campaign positively with a third-place finish in the Betway Premiership. Under co-coaches Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze, the Soweto club achieved its best league standing in six years, qualified for the CAF Confederation Cup, and secured a return to the MTN8 competition. Nevertheless, the club’s management is reportedly planning extensive changes both on and off the pitch, aiming to elevate Amakhosi to the pinnacle of South African football.

A key issue under discussion is the future of the coaching staff. Former Mamelodi Sundowns coaches Manqoba Mngqithi and Pitso Mosimane have both been mentioned as potential candidates for the Kaizer Chiefs role. Mosimane, in particular, is one of Africa’s most successful coaches, having enjoyed significant success with Al Ahly, including winning multiple CAF Champions League titles. While Chiefs fans may be excited about the idea of such a high-profile appointment, there are concerns about whether the club can meet Mosimane’s salary expectations.

In addition to possible coaching changes, Kaizer Chiefs are also expected to make significant alterations to their squad before the new season starts. Reports indicate that up to 11 players could depart from Naturena. Those potentially leaving include George Matlou, Zitha Kwinika, Bruce Bvuma, Fiacre Ntwari, Gaston Sirino, Khanyisa Mayo, Etiosa Ighodaro, Happy Mashiane, Samkelo Zwane, Paseka Mako, and Ashley du Preez. This anticipated restructuring reflects the club’s commitment to assembling a stronger team capable of contending for domestic trophies and making a mark in continental competitions next season.
