Makhumo Ngobeni and Thabang Mvuyane, the only surviving couple from Married at First Sight Mzansi Season 1, have announced that lobola has been paid in full.
The couple, known to fans as Khumo and Thabang, shared the news on social media, marking a major cultural and personal milestone in their relationship.
Their time on the show was marked by tension and drama, including disagreements over gender roles and an explosive breakup at the finale. Despite this, they have remained together and are now the only successful couple from their season.
Reports that they welcomed their first child in August 2025 have not been confirmed, as neither Khumo nor Thabang has spoken publicly about having a child.
In a recent interview, Khumo said their marriage success comes from a lot of unlearning and relearning. She said she would endure public scrutiny again just to be with her husband. She described Thabang as patient and gentle, adding that she had never experienced a love that allows for trial and error.
Thabang said he fell in love with Khumo’s emotional intelligence and that no matter how intense a situation was, she would always find a way to make him laugh.
The couple follows in the footsteps of Season 2 couple Nelisa Ntabeni and Themba Khosa, who held their own lobola ceremony earlier this year.
@nelisa_ntabeni A beautiful day with family, culture and love 🤍 Grateful for moments like these that remind me marriage is not just about two people… it’s about families coming together. Neither couple has announced a traditional wedding date yet. Meanwhile, production for Season 3 of Married at First Sight Mzansi is reportedly under way, with an air date to be announced later.
