After weeks of anticipation, Chris Q Radebe has confirmed that the full movie release of his hit web series “Shut Up! Men Are Talking” will premiere on Sunday, 26 April.

The web series, which has been streaming on Radebe’s self-funded YouTube channel, has been on an unexpected hiatus after the release of its fifth episode. The sixth episode faced significant delays due to music copyright clearance issues, leaving millions of fans waiting for the conclusion of the story.

However, Radebe has now confirmed that the project is almost ready. In a recent social media post, the creator teased the release of the film, describing it as a rollercoaster of pure, unadulterated emotions.

Radebe stated that the full film boasts the versatility of Wiseman Mncube, the rare talent of Thulani Mtsweni, the brilliance of Lungelo Mpangase, and is helmed by the one-take genius of Jo-Anne Reyneke, with special appearances by Dawn Thandeka King, Sibonile Ngubane, and Zekhethelo Zondi.

What to expect from the finale

The series is set against the backdrop of a deeply patriarchal rural Zulu community. It follows the story of Nontobeko, a young widowed woman who pushes back against oppressive cultural norms while fighting for an assertive life.

The show has received widespread praise for its raw depiction of toxic masculinity, tackling difficult subjects such as sexual assault, oppressive traditions, and forced marriages, as well as the sad reality of women abused by cultural norms.

According to the creator, the conclusion of the film will take viewers on a journey of mixed emotions. He promised that audiences will laugh, swoon, punch the wall, pull their hair out, cry, and smile with tears in their eyes.

Star-studded cast

The series features a lineup of Mzansi A-listers including:

– Jo-Anne Reyneke
– Wiseman Mncube
– Thulani Mtsweni
– Lungelo Mpangase
– Dawn Thandeka King
– Sibonile Ngubane
– Zekhethelo Zondi

The first episode, which launched in September, attracted over one million views, and netizens have remained hooked throughout the run.

How to watch

The full movie will be available for free streaming on Chris Q Radebe’s official YouTube channel on Sunday, 26 April. Radebe, who writes, produces, and acts in the project, has previously mentioned that viewer support via watching ads on the videos helps sustain the production.

Radebe has been working to clear the copyright issues that delayed the sixth episode. With the obstacles now seemingly resolved, fans can finally look forward to seeing how the powerful story of Nontobeko reaches its conclusion.
