Former president Jacob Zuma’s daughter, Dudu Zuma-Sambudla, caused yet another online storm yesterday. This is happening as she is already juggling her own ongoing legal matters stemming from the 2021 revolution.Dudu Zuma-Sambudla is currently involved in a legal battle after being accused of inciting violence during the major riots that followed her father’s imprisonment.

Following her father’s incarceration, this claim was levelled. One of the bloodiest episodes in contemporary South African history, the riots are still talked about today. Many lives were lost and damage of billions of dollars was caused by them.Zuma-Sambudla made an ominous and puzzling post on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, April 15, 2026.

— Dudu “Grenade” Zuma-Sambudla (@DZumaSambudla) April 15, 2026

A range of reactions have been prompted by the statement since then. She appeared to be alluding to the possibility of additional upheaval should Julius Malema be jailed for the ongoing charges relating to guns. She tweeted, “#WeSeeYou,” in response to the April unrest. The tweet appears to have been sent at a time when rumours are circulating that Malema might face a prison sentence exceeding ten years upon conviction. The nation’s political tensions have been ratcheted up again due to an ongoing investigation into the suspected public shooting of a weapon by the leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF).Political scientists and civil society groups have voiced their concerns in reaction to Zuma-Sambudla’s remarks.

For these people, statements like this have the potential to sow discord and exacerbate existing conflicts. Some worry that her most recent statements may make an already difficult legal situation even more difficult, given that she is currently facing incitement charges. However, her backers argue that she is speaking out for a political discontent that has been building up in recent years, particularly in response to what they perceive as unfair treatment of certain prominent figures in politics.

The situation is being closely monitored due to the heightened sensitivity of Malema’s case and its possible consequences, even if the authorities have not officially responded to her tweet. With Zuma-Sambudla and Malema’s cases still pending in court, South Africa is once again faced with the challenge of balancing political speech with the fair administration of justice.According to Dudu Zuma.
