After Tsakane Matlala, the wife of controversial businessman Vusimuzi Cat Matlala, filed a criminal complaint against the actress and media personality, accusing her of cyberbullying, defamation, intimidation, and online harassment, the feud between the Matlala family and actress Tebogo Thobejane, which has been highly publicised and has been bitterly contested, has taken a significant new turn.

The complaint, which was submitted to the South African Police Service, is the most recent chapter in a story that has been unfolding simultaneously in courtrooms and across various social media platforms.

According to the lawsuit, Thobejane is accused of making multiple remarks on social media that went beyond the realm of public criticism and over the line into continuous personal targeting of Tsakane Matlala. The charge that Thobejane’s tweets referred to Tsakane as a murderer and claimed that she was involved in violent activities against the actress is one of the most serious allegations. The posts also allegedly suggested that Tsakane celebrated a conspiracy against Thobejane’s life.

Another allegation that Tsakane makes is that Thobejane has been following her about during court appearances. This is a charge that she has used to support her more general statement that she has been intimidated.

One cannot read the complaint in isolation from the extremely serious criminal procedures that are taking on in relation to Vusimuzi Matlala. Matlala is facing various counts, including attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder, in connection with a shooting that took place in 2023 and resulted in Thobejane sustain injuries.

The fight between the two women has become one of the most widely observed personal conflicts in South African public life as a result of this background, with each new development garnering great scrutiny from the media and the general public.

In the past, Thobejane has expressed her concern for her own safety in relation to the Matlalas, and she has made a public appeal for them to continue to be held in captivity. As of the time of writing, she has not yet provided a response to the most recent complaint that was filed through her representatives, and the police have not issued any public statements addressing the case.

The fact that the fight between these two ladies, which was already running at a high temperature, has now entered formal legal area that will be impossible for either side to step back from is something that is abundantly evident.
