EFF leader Julius Malema has defended National Coloured Congress leader and MP Fadiel Adams at the Ad Hoc Committee probing national security concerns, dismissing criticism over Adams’s handling of alleged classified information .
Adams appeared before the committee on Tuesday night to answer questions following testimony from KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, who implicated him in wrongdoing .
Malema’s Defence
Malema told the committee that Adams did nothing wrong by reporting information he obtained anonymously to the police. He said that anyone who comes across wrongdoing has a duty to report it, regardless of who may be implicated .
“Where you are seated, you must know there’s nothing wrong you have done, no one must ever, ever try to tell you nonsense. There’s nothing wrong you have done,” Malema said .
“You come across information, you go to the police, and what the police do with it is none of your business” .
Where Else to Report?
Malema questioned where else Adams should have taken the information, suggesting that taking it to Parliament would have been ineffective .
“You have reported it to the authorities, that’s how it works. Where should you take that information to? To the same corrupt politicians who are in cahoots with thugs, whose political parties are formed with blood money and tell you, ‘No, take Parliament, take it to Parliament’, which law is that?” he asked .
“You come across nonsense; you report it to the police, it doesn’t matter who is being implicated in the nonsense. There are no holy cows here!” .
Background
The committee is investigating explosive allegations made by Mkhwanazi during a bombshell media briefing in July 2025 . Adams’s appearance follows testimony from former Deputy National Commissioner Lieutenant General Francinah Vuma, who is expected to testify about her suspension and claims that she was targeted by former police minister Bheki Cele and national commissioner General Fannie Masemola .
