Fistfight Erupts at SAFA Executive Meeting Over Jordaan’s Leadership Bid

The brawl broke out Saturday in Johannesburg during a National Executive Committee meeting, where members accused President Danny Jordaan of using security against them amid disputes on finances and his push for a fourth term.

Tensions centered on three-year delays in regional grants and Jordaan’s reversal of his 2022 pledge for a final stint, splitting the group into pro-FTF and anti-SOS camps. Sports Minister Gayton McKenzie called the chaos ‘hugely embarrassing,’ vowing to alert CAF and FIFA while seeking sponsors; the meeting ended without resolution, echoing prior clashes.

This is hugely embarrassing and shameful behaviour by the people tasked with running our football. We will be informing @CAF_Online, @FIFA about our intention to investigate and take action. We are hard at work bringing corporate sponsorship to @SAFA_net to allow this nonsense pic.twitter.com/XKlmP49snw
