EFF leader Julius Malema and his wife Mantwa made a public appearance together at the Soweto Derby on Saturday, seemingly putting to rest speculation about their marriage .

The couple attended the match between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates at FNB Stadium, with their children, less than a week after controversial blogger Musa Khawula claimed they were on the verge of divorce . Khawula’s allegations followed Malema removing images of his wife from his Instagram account .

Public Display Shuts Down Speculation

Radio personality Xoliswa Zondo was among those who reacted to the couple’s appearance, posting on X: “Thank you, cameraman, for showing the country that there is no divorce. This is @BlaqSanta” .

The EFF’s official X account shared photos of Malema with his wife and children at the stadium, stating: “The EFF President and Commander in Chief, @Julius_S_Malema, along with his family at FNB Stadium, watching the Soweto Derby as proud Orlando Pirates supporters” .

Social Media Reactions

Social media users quickly weighed in on the appearance, with many dismissing Khawula’s claims .

“They appeared to be in a state of complete and utter joy…oh my god!! Musa is definitely talking nonsense,” tweeted @Lrnmosima .

Some users suggested the public appearance was strategic. @Koena_za commented: “This was posted to demonstrate that the marriage is still intact and functioning properly. Strategic” .

Others mocked those who believed the rumours. @mingasPC said: “So, vele people genuinely believed Musa? As far as I was aware, they were aware that he needed to eat and pay his rent, and the only way to do so was to post and lie about the most important employer” .

@RoriOnRadio added: “I believe it was deliberately done, and I am happy that it happened. All of the hogwash was smashed to pieces” .

Support from Party Members

EFF national spokesperson Sinawo Thambo urged the public not to entertain gossip, posting: “You are politicians, and you have no time to entertain gossip. Keep it going” .

Another supporter, @nkululekosho, wrote: “Our @KaizerChiefs lost, but our @EFFSouthAfrica won against all of these haters who were spreading lies about CIC @Julius_S_Malema and his personal life outside of politics. 3 EFF, 0 is the final score. Infidels” .

The couple’s appearance comes amid ongoing public interest in Malema’s personal life, with the EFF leader typically keeping his family out of the political spotlight .
