Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee to Resume Mkhwanazi allegations Probe on Monday

The Ad Hoc Committee that was established to investigate explosive claims made by the Commissioner of Police for the province of KwaZulu-Natal, Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, will meet again on Monday, February 23, 2026, at thirteen o’clock. This will represent a crucial moment in a process that has garnered substantial interest from stakeholders around the nation.

The committee was established with the purpose of evaluating the credibility, scope, and ramifications of the assertions that were brought forth by Mkhwanazi. These claims have caused a heated debate within the political and security communities. It is anticipated that legislators will continue to receive arguments, examine evidence, and deliberate on procedural questions in order to guarantee a comprehensive and objective investigation.

The reopening of proceedings comes at a time when there is a heightened public interest in the topic, and observers are intently watching how Parliament navigates the sensitive claims. As part of its duty, the committee is tasked with analysing the claims’ substance and assessing whether or not more action or suggestions are required.

Officials from the Parliament have reaffirmed their dedication to openness and accountability, highlighting the fact that the investigation must be carried out without any favouritism or fear. The committee members are anticipated to present updates on the work that has been made up to this point and to identify the subsequent measures that will be taken in the probe.

Sources within the Parliament say that the gathering that will take place on Monday will concentrate on combining information that was presented during earlier sessions and addressing procedural issues that have not yet been resolved. In the event that more witnesses are required, the committee can also take into consideration calling them.

The investigation is a component of the oversight obligation that Parliament has to determine whether or not the institutions that are responsible with maintaining law and order are operating within the parameters of the Constitution and the laws that are applicable. In light of the fact that the findings of the committee could potentially have substantial institutional and political ramifications, legal experts have pointed out that the outcome of the investigation matters.

As the process continues to unfold, stakeholders from a wide range of political perspectives have asked them to exercise caution and work together. There have been several individuals who have advised against drawing hasty conclusions and emphasised the need of respecting due process.

When the Ad Hoc Committee gets back together, everyone’s attention will continue to be unwaveringly focused on how well it strikes a balance between justice and urgency. It is anticipated that the session that will take place on Monday will establish the tone for the subsequent stage of what is building up to be a significant parliamentary probe. This is because the public’s confidence in governance and law enforcement agencies is directly at stake.
